Hi-

The assassination of RFK was one of the most painful and memorable moments of my youth. I can still remember the entire thing quite vividly. As a person working in the movie business in the early 1990's, I had an opportunity to go into the hotel, where they were filming "Casper". It was eerie and depressing to know that the Ambassador itself had actually become a "ghost hotel". I had someone show me "the spot" and was shocked at what I saw. The only "marker" was plywood taped to the floor to discourage people from stealing floor tiles and a crushed soda carton "flat", which was taped to the wall with the inscription, "No filming in this area."

Whatever they decide to do with the hotel, I hope that they will give Bobby a fitting memorial somewhere on the site. Property is obviously valuable in LA, so maybe preserving the hotel as is is an unrealistic goal. Maybe they could name the high school after him? (Do they have an RFK high school in L.A. already?) I believe that doing that would qualify as a fitting memorial to him.

Vic
