"The Ambassador Hotel" by Jon Denson

Alone it stands
A place in time
No longer loved
No longer fine.

The mythic mansion
of dreams gone by
beyond the gates
You'll hear them cry.

Darkened halls
recall the past
Days of glamour
could not last.

The band still plays
a forgotten song
The ghost of Crawford
dances on.

Wilted palms and faded stars
cling to dreams
that once were ours
The dancers slowly leave the floor
Crawford will dance here no more.

Fading stars desert the sky
No one cares to say goodbye
Valentino's palms
so rich in art
are left behind and torn apart.

The day has come
the last farewell
They're tearing down
The Ambassador Hotel.
