I was unaware that between 1921-1939 I. Magnin had a branch in the Ambassador Hotel (also one at 6340 Hollywood Bl & the Biltmore Hotel) before opening at Wilshire between Vermont and New Hampshire. The Hollywood Bl store and Wilshire Bl stores were both designed by Architect Myron Hunt who also designed the Ambassador Hotel. The Hollywood Bl store was a masterpiece not surprisingly torn down to make way for a much needed T-shirt and Poster concern I assume. The Ambassador location was closed when the Wilshire Boulevard location opened in 1939. The link below will take you to a picture of the Ambassador I. Magnin & Co. location.
